The major Festivals in Jammu and Kashmir are:
Lohri – this festival of Jammu and Kashmir is celebrated every year on the 13th of January. This festival is also known as Makar Sankranti. This festival announces the arrival of spring. This is hweld in Jammu and the whole of Jammu wears a festive look during Lohri. During this festival, people take a dip in the holy river and havan yajnas are lit up in every house and temple in Jammu. Boys and men wlak on the road in colorful attires and their drums which are known as chajjas.

Baisakhi – This is the Punjabi new year and is held either on the 13th or on the 14th of April every year. This is also known as the harvest festival and is considered to be a auspicious day for marriage. Ritualistic dips are taken in holy rivers. Several fairs are organized throighout the state and folk music and dances fill the air of Jammu.
Bahu-Mela – This is an important religious festival held at the bahu fort in Jammu twice a year.
Chaitre Chaudash – This festival is celebrated in Uttar Behni, about 25 kilometers from Jammu.
Purmandal Mela – Locate at a distance of 39 Kilometers from the city of Jammu. This festival is celebrated during Shiva Ratri.
Jhiri Mela – the followers of Baba Jitu congregate at Jhiri to celebrate this unique festival.
Food and Craft Mela – this Festival of Jammu and Kashmir is celebrated on behalf of the Government of Jammu and Kashmir.
